On 3,2,1, Go the athlete will begin with a 10 rep backsquat (starting on rack) from the start of the clock until the end of 2 minutes time. The clock will run the entire time. They will then have 2 minutes (minutes 2-4) to complete a 10 rep deadlift. *Neither the backsquat nor the deadlift must be “touch and go”, so the athlete may re-rack the bar in the squat or drop the bar in the deadlift between reps.*

From minutes 4-6, the athlete will complete a snatch and then from minutes 6-8, the athlete will complete a clean and jerk.

The score is the total weight lifted for each of the 4 movements added together. For example, if the athlete squats 300lbs for 10 reps, deadlifts 350lbs for 10 reps, snatches 150lbs, and then clean and jerks 200lbs successfully, their total score would be 300 + 350 + 150 + 200 which equals 1,000lbs

If the athlete fails to complete one of the 4 movements during the allotted time, they may continue with a score of ZERO POUNDS for that lift or start over from the beginning with the backsquats. The athlete MAY NOT take a break or go past time to complete the four lifts.

The athlete may get assistance from others to load/unload the barbell. ONLY ONE BARBELL MAY BE USED.

MOVEMENT STANDARDS

Backsquat

In the back squat, the barbell must be held behind the neck on the athlete’s shoulders or back. At the bottom, the crease of the hips must pass below the height of the kneecap. At the top, the knees and hips must be completely open with the barbell in control.

Deadlift

This is a traditional deadlift with the hands outside the knees. Sumo deadlifts are not allowed. Starting at the floor, the barbell is lifted until hips and knees reach full extension with the shoulders behind the bar. The arms must be straight throughout. Deliberate bouncing of the barbell is not allowed. Dropping the barbell after the completion of the repetition is permitted. Hitching is permitted, as long as full extension of the knees and hips is eventually reached.

Snatch

The snatch begins on the ground, and the barbell is brought overhead in one smooth motion. The barbell must come to full lockout overhead with the hips, knees and arms fully extended, and the bar directly over the body. Split, power, squat, and muscle snatches are permitted as long as they meet the movement requirements.

Clean and Jerk

The clean and jerk is a ground-to-overhead any way. A muscle clean, power clean, squat clean or split clean may be used to get the bar to the shoulders, and a shoulder press, push press, push jerk or split jerk may be used to get the weight overhead. The barbell begins on the ground.

The barbell must come to full lockout overhead with the hips, knees and arms fully extended, and the bar directly over the middle of the body
