In 2018, Trinity Competitions will be only be hosting Duality in San Antonio.
In order to better serve our community, we are taking 2018 to reorganize Trinity Competitions and allow me, Chris Galvan to better train and equip my team to handle a bulk of the responsibility to run the competitions throughout the year.
Trinity Competitions is such a passion project for me and a great honor to run events for the Texas community! As some of you may know, I have had a full time job throughout this time as well as a wife (Emily) and 2 kiddos: Abby (almost 5 years old) and Sam (almost 2 years old). I have recently started a new business and I have realized that in order to keep Trinity Competitions moving forward with excellence, I must train my leadership team to be able to run the company in most roles without me so I can focus on growing the company on a larger scale.
I can do better as a leader and I have realized this after surrounding myself with quality people like Geoff Zickler, Sheina/Austin McManus, JB Barrientes, Patricia Andazola, Fernie Martinez, Ivanna/James Bucklin, the late Kristopher Garza, Kason Morris, Erick Felan, Jacob Noll, along with so many others. I will focus this year on training and equipping these people to have more responsibility and use my experience to grow the company and ensure excellence.
If I do not do this now, I know deep down that the events in 2018 will not be what I want them to be. I will be stretched too thin, overtired, and ultimately will make poor decisions or give mediocre customer service. This is not what I want to happen, so after speaking with my wife, my team, and the Man Upstairs, I am excited to take a little breather and think big picture!
My wife and kids have taken the largest brunt of me running Trinity while working full time. Last month, my son was hospitalized for 4 days and I did some serious soul searching on what I wanted in life. I decided that allowing other people to help me run the company will allow me to not only impact their lives in a positive way but also to give me the time back with my family.
I do every Facebook post, every Instagram photo. I answer every single email from the athletes and vendors. I plan all the workouts, I draw up the floor, I manage every page/image on our website. While this may not seem like a lot, my brain has very little time in the year to just relax and let go. I do a lot more not listed here but I will not bore you all with the details. 😉
I have not let go of these duties because I have not had time to teach others how to do it because my schedule and life are TOO BUSY. Given that I have a family and a new business, something MUST give.
The constant busy-ness and a life of stress and no downtime does not equal success to me and I must take care of my own health, my own family, and then allow others to serve the public by doing more for Trinity Competitions.
For all intents and purposes, this has been a fun hobby for me. Yes, it may seem like a successful business, but I do not run this like a real business and it is time to do so. A real business runs without the owner and this is my goal. If we do not run this right, we will not be able to serve others with fun, challenging, and positive competitions each and every year.
I hope this makes sense and I appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to read this. Just like any athlete who is tired, overworked, stressed out and needs to take a day/week/season/competition off to recover, we must do the same. The physical, mental, and emotional toll running events year round takes is real and heavy at times.
We have received a lot of questions asking about the ATX Throwdown and Battle on the Bay and we understand that you may be a little disappointed with the cancellation of ATX Throwdown and Battle on the Bay, we hope to get to a place this year where we can find a venue to host them in Austin and Corpus. The Naturally Fit Games were cancelled this year indefinitely and we are now looking for a place to host this event in 2019. Battle on the Bay may happen next year at the same location but we are open to finding another venue to host the competition. There is a lot that goes in to the planning of these events, and we would be doing a disservice if we tried to host these events this year.
We are excited to announce Duality 2018 will be held on September 28th through the 30th here in San Antonio. We are making some big changes and will be announcing those changes after the CrossFit Open has concluded. Please be aware you can register for Duality on Tuesday, June 5th at 8pm CST.
Thank you all for the love and support you have given me and my team over the last 5 years. It means the world and please know YOU are the reason we do this. We love you guys and will see some of you at Power Hour in February and hopefully the rest of you at Duality in September!
